Description: Varanasi has become the first city in India to try a new way of producing clean energy. At the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), solar panels have been installed between railway tracks. This is the first removable solar panel system in the country, and it shows how unused spaces can be turned into sources of power. The project covers around 70 meters of railway track. In this space, 28 solar panels with a capacity of 15 kilowatts have been fixed. What makes it special is that the panels are designed in a way that they can be removed easily when the tracks need repair. They are held with bolts and pads that protect them from the vibration of trains. These solar panels can produce about 880 units of electricity for every kilometer in a single day. Since the Indian Railways network is very large, this idea can be expanded without buying new land. It is a smart way to save space and generate renewable energy. This step supports India’s goal of using more green energy and reducing pollution. For Varanasi, it is not only a matter of pride but also a sign of how traditional places can lead in modern, eco-friendly solutions.
