Description: It has now been more than four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, yet it has still not managed to achieve a clear victory. When the war began in February 2022, many believed that Russia’s much larger army and resources would quickly overwhelm Ukraine. But the opposite happened. Ukraine resisted fiercely, defending its cities and pushing back Russian advances in key areas. What was expected to be a short war turned into a long and exhausting struggle. One of the biggest reasons Russia has not been able to win is the determination of the Ukrainian people. From the very start, ordinary citizens joined the fight, volunteered to support the army, and refused to surrender their land. Ukrainian soldiers have shown incredible bravery, adapting their tactics, improving their coordination, and using every available tool to resist. Over time, they have learned how to use modern technology, drones, and precise strikes to offset Russia’s numerical advantage. Russia, on the other hand, has faced many problems on the battlefield. Its forces have suffered huge losses in both soldiers and equipment. Poor planning, weak logistics, and corruption within the military have made things worse. Many Russian offensives have gained only small bits of territory at a very high cost. Despite having more weapons and manpower, Russia has struggled to coordinate its air, land, and artillery forces effectively. Long supply lines and low morale have also hurt its operations. Ukraine’s success is also closely tied to international support. Western countries have provided weapons, training, and intelligence that have helped Ukraine defend itself and strike back effectively. Advanced systems for air defense, communication, and long-range attacks have made a big difference. Sanctions have weakened Russia’s economy and made it harder for Moscow to replace lost equipment and maintain its war effort. Now, the war has turned into a slow and grinding conflict. Neither side is able to make quick progress, and both are suffering heavy losses. Russia controls parts of eastern and southern Ukraine but has failed to take full control or force Ukraine to surrender. Ukraine continues to resist, hoping that time and persistence will eventually push Russian forces out. For now, the war shows no sign of ending soon. It has become a test of endurance, willpower, and international support — and even after four years, Russia still cannot claim victory.
