Description: NASA successfully launched Artemis II on April 1, 2026, sending astronauts toward the Moon. ATM charges in India have recently increased, mainly after changes allowed by the Reserve Bank of India. The fee for transactions beyond the free monthly limit has gone up from about ₹21 to around ₹23 per transaction. This applies to services like cash withdrawals as well as non-cash actions such as balance enquiries once the free limit is crossed. The basic free transaction limits remain the same. Customers can usually make up to five free transactions per month at their own bank’s ATMs. At other banks’ ATMs, the free limit is typically three transactions in metro cities and five in non-metro areas. After exceeding these limits, the new higher charges are applied. A recent change from April 2026 is that cardless cash withdrawals using UPI at ATMs are now included in the free transaction count. This means people using UPI to withdraw cash may reach their free limit faster than before. Some banks have also revised their withdrawal limits and policies alongside these changes. Overall, the increase in ATM charges is mainly due to higher operational costs and a continued push toward digital payments. For users, it means that occasional ATM use won’t change much, but frequent withdrawals can become slightly more expensive.
