Description: A major controversy emerged after the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, when several students across India were reportedly denied entry to exam centres for being just a few minutes late. Videos of students crying outside centres in Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and other cities went viral on social media, sparking debate over the strict enforcement of entry rules. One widely reported case involved a Delhi student, Varsha Kumari, who missed the examination after reaching her centre only two minutes late. According to reports, she first went to the wrong examination centre in Dwarka and then rushed to the correct centre on Pandara Road, but was not allowed to enter. Similar incidents were reported in Bengaluru, where parents alleged that some candidates were denied entry despite arriving only a minute late because of heavy traffic congestion. Videos from outside examination centres showed students and parents pleading with authorities, but officials followed the National Testing Agency's (NTA) no-late-entry policy. The NTA had already announced that entry to re-NEET examination centres would close at 1:30 PM and that late arrivals would not be permitted. The policy was enforced uniformly across centres, regardless of the reason for the delay. The incidents triggered criticism on social media, with many people arguing that students who were only a few minutes late due to traffic, navigation errors, or verification delays should have been given some flexibility. Others defended the strict rules, saying that national-level examinations require uniform procedures to ensure fairness and security. Subscribe to FactTechz
