Description: Looting Cases Spark Outrage During Nepal Flood Disaster Nepal Police have arrested 29 people accused of breaking open a bank safe carried downstream by the catastrophic floods and taking the cash inside. The safe was reportedly swept from the flood-affected Bhotekoshi area in Rasuwa before becoming lodged beside the Trishuli River at Belkhukhola in Dhading district. Police said local people allegedly forced it open and distributed or removed the money before security personnel arrived. A joint operation involving Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force recovered 9,268,505 Nepalese rupees—approximately ₹58 lakh—from those detained. Investigators are examining whether the safe contained additional money and whether more people participated in the alleged theft. The suspects remain in custody while legal proceedings continue. Public anger has also intensified over a separate jewellery-theft case. A viral video appeared to show two men pulling a deceased woman from the Narayani River and removing earrings from her ears. Police identified the suspects as Madan Gurung, 25, and Umesh Chaudhary, 38, and arrested them near Pokhara Bus Park in Bharatpur. The two incidents have circulated widely online as examples of people exploiting a national tragedy. However, authorities have not established that those arrested in the cash and jewellery cases belonged to one organised group. Police have warned that stealing property or valuables belonging to flood victims will not be tolerated. The allegations remain under investigation, and the detained individuals should not be considered convicted until the cases are decided through Nepal’s legal process. Subscribe to FactTechz

This rule comes in response to several incidents of minor fires and short‑circuits that occurred when passengers overcharged phones, laptops, or used improper adapters overnight. By cutting power to these outlets at night, rail officials aim to reduce fire risk when most passengers are asleep and fires might go unnoticed until they become serious. This policy was first recommended in 2014, after a fire on the Bangalore–Nanded Express ©, and has since been enforced more strictly by the Railway Board across all zones. Western and Southern Railways began implementation in March of that year. While some argue that installing better circuit breakers or upgrading electrical wiring would be a smarter long‑term solution, railways say those infrastructure updates take time and money...
