He said Iran would reciprocate if Washington returned to its commitments under the interim arrangement. Modi expressed concern over the escalation and reiterated India’s position that conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He also stressed the importance of protecting civilians, commercial vessels and seafarers, while maintaining freedom of navigation and trade through the Strait of Hormuz. The leaders discussed bilateral trade, maritime cooperation and India’s involvement in Iran’s Chabahar Port. Pezeshkian thanked India for maintaining communication and cooperation with Tehran during the conflict. However, India has not announced a formal mediation initiative.
