Singh was held for approximately two hours. However, he was reportedly a recently recruited technician visiting the location for the first time and had no personal responsibility for the long-running connectivity issues. Police began investigating after receiving information about the incident. Seven people were identified, while six were arrested on allegations that included wrongful confinement and disturbing public peace. They were later released on bail. The unusual protest has generated mixed reactions online. Some users sympathised with villagers who said they were paying for services they could not reliably access. Others strongly criticised the detention of a field technician, arguing that complaints should have been directed through legal and regulatory channels. The incident has drawn renewed attention to the difference between advertised 5G availability and actual network performance in rural India.
