Description: Half-Metre-Wide Fiat Panda Earns Guinness World Record An unusually thin Fiat Panda has returned to the spotlight after being recognised as the world’s narrowest driveable car by Guinness World Records. Italian mechanic Andrea Marazzi created the vehicle from a scrapped 1993 Fiat Panda at his family’s automobile-dismantling business. Nicknamed the “Flat Fiat,” the finished car measures only 50.20 centimetres—or 19.76 inches—across. That makes it narrower than many household doors and roughly half the width of a conventional small car. Despite its extraordinary proportions, the vehicle has four wheels and can carry one person. Marazzi replaced the Panda’s original engine with an electric scooter motor, giving it a maximum speed of approximately 15 kilometres per hour. It weighs around 264 kilograms and reportedly took nearly a year to complete. The car officially achieved the Guinness record in Bagnolo Cremasco, Italy, on June 21, 2025. It has attracted renewed international attention following its inclusion among records highlighted around the release of the 2027 edition of Guinness World Records. Marazzi retained much of the original Fiat’s structure and components while cutting away its middle section and bringing the two sides much closer together. The result resembles a full-sized car compressed into an almost two-dimensional machine. The Flat Fiat is primarily an engineering demonstration and is not intended to replace ordinary road vehicles. Its record is also different from that of the Peel P50, which remains famous as the smallest production car. For automobile enthusiasts, the creation demonstrates how discarded machinery, practical skills and a wildly unconventional idea can produce a world-record vehicle. Subscribe to FactTechz
