Description: John Ternus Takes Over as Apple CEO and Indians Become Curious With His Salary in IT Office & Corporate World Apple has completed its biggest leadership change in 15 years, appointing longtime hardware executive John Ternus as chief executive officer. Ternus formally replaced Tim Cook on September 1, 2026, following a transition announced in April and unanimously approved by Apple’s board. Cook, who had led Apple since 2011, has not left the company. He has moved into the newly created position of executive chairman and will remain involved in major strategic and global policy matters. According to Apple’s regulatory filing, Ternus will receive an annual base salary of $3 million. He was also granted a restricted-stock-unit award with a target value of $2.5 million for his partial service as CEO during fiscal 2026. For fiscal 2027, Apple has approved an annual equity award targeted at $55 million. This does not mean Ternus will immediately receive $55 million in cash or freely tradable shares. Seventy-five percent of the award will be performance-based and will depend on Apple’s shareholder returns compared with other S&P 500 companies. Ternus joined Apple in 2001 and previously led hardware engineering across the iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch and AirPods product lines. Subscribe to FactTechz
